The “Sang pour Sang” Unit at the Hôtel-Dieu de France Blood Transfusion Center is dedicated to ensuring the safe and reliable availability of blood and its components. Every day, it meets the needs of patients and helps save lives. Thanks to the generosity of donors and the expertise of medical teams, the Unit provides care that is professional, compassionate, and supportive.

As a specialized reference center, the Unit focuses on the collection, processing, storage, and distribution of blood and its components. Its priorities are to promote voluntary, regular, and responsible donation and to respond effectively to the needs of patients and partner hospitals.

Why Donate Blood?

One donation can save up to three lives. Patients need transfusions daily—for surgeries, childbirth, cancer treatments, or chronic illnesses. Since blood cannot be manufactured, it relies entirely on donors’ generosity. Donating blood is a simple, safe, and profoundly human act.

Who Can Donate?

Healthy individuals aged 18 to 60 and weighing more than 50 kg (110 lbs) are usually eligible. Each donation begins with a brief medical check to ensure the safety of both donor and recipient.

How to Donate ?

The process involves four steps:

1. Registration & Welcome – Show ID and register.
2. Medical Interview – Complete a health questionnaire and quick check-up.
3. Donation – A short, painless procedure (around 10 minutes).
4. Rest & Refreshments – Relax and enjoy a snack to regain energy.
