Infectious Diseases

The Department of Infectious and Tropical Diseases, founded in 1995, provides highly specialized medical services in the fields of epidemiology, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of infectious diseases.

It is composed of four doctors specialized in all the fields of infectious diseases.

The Department is also heavily involved in pre- and post-graduate training in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases for students at the USJ Faculties of Medicine and Pharmacy.

The infectiologists of the Department constitute an integral part of the institution's Nosocomial Infection Control Committee.

The Department of Infectious and Tropical Diseases offers a comprehensive approach in the diagnosis and treatment of the following diseases:

  • infections in immunocompromised patients
  • fungal and mycobacterial infections
  • general viral diseases as well as chronic infections such as HIV and viral hepatitis
  • infections on prostheses and other implants

In addition, the Department of Infectious and Tropical Diseases is mindful of the safety of travelers and recommends the necessary vaccines and medications required for their trip.
