Agreement between Hôtel-Dieu de France and Levant Clinic on robotic surgery

Beirut, January 26, 2022: Despite the crises facing the medical sector in Lebanon, the desire to offer the best to patients remains a priority. In this spirit, Hôtel-Dieu de France hospital signed an agreement with the Levant Clinic, granting it access to the fourth generation Da Vinci Xi robot. This cooperation stems from the desire to always offer the best in the field of robotic surgery while respecting the highest standards of quality and safety.

The agreement was signed on January 26, between the Levant Clinic CEO, Dr. Antoine Maalouf and the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Prof. Salim Daccache s.j. in the presence of vice-chairman of the Levant Clinic, Dr. Ziad Maalouf, former French MP of Lebanese origin, Dr. Elie Abboud, and Head of the urology department at the Levant Hospital, Prof. Sleiman Merhej, as well as the general director of the HDF, Mr. Nassib Nasr along with the Heads of medical and nursing services, doctors and other directors of the hospital  

Dr. Antoine Maalouf welcomed the agreement and thanked all those who worked towards its realization. He also expressed his desire to continue the cooperation between the two institutions. For his part, Prof. Daccache considered that “it is a new starting point that will enrich the hospital, the faculty of medicine and its students, and that will be beneficial for the patients”, and concluded “everyone is a winner when working for the good of all”.

It is worth mentioning that the fourth generation Da Vinci Xi robot is unique and used for various surgeries: digestive system, female organs, urology, heart etc. The importance of robotic surgery lies in the fact that it ensures a rapid recovery of the patient and reduces pain and the risk of postoperative infections, given that it is associated with speed and efficiency.
