A morning introduction to robotic surgery

On Friday March 24, 2023, a morning introduction to robotic surgery was organized for residents from different medical faculties in Lebanon that are enrolled in the University Diploma of Laparoscopic Surgery awarded by the Faculty of Medicine of Saint Joseph University of Beirut.

This training is the result of a collaboration between the Faculty of Medicine of Saint Joseph University of Beirut, Hôtel-Dieu de France, IRCAD - Lebanon and the Karl STORZ Company.

After welcoming words by Pr Riad SARKIS (USJ - HDF), Pr Antoine MAALOUF (IRCAD-Lebanon) and Pr Elie ABBOUD (IRCAD- Lebanon), a series of robotic surgery videos carried out at Hôtel-Dieu de France was broadcasted and commented on by Dr Joseph GHARIOS (Hôtel-Dieu de France). Afterwards, the residents took part in a hands-on session for robot manipulation via simulation.
