Procedure in Pediatric Surgery

Lara Raffoul

A rare and complex procedure was performed in the Pediatric Surgery Department at Hôtel-Dieu de France by Dr. Lara Raffoul. The case involved an anterior diaphragmatic hernia, known as Morgagni hernia, successfully treated through laparoscopy.

This particular condition was discovered incidentally during the examination of a 5-year-old child admitted after a 3-meter fall.

The surgical team opted for an innovative technique involving the use of transcutaneous sutures.

Although uncommon and still largely unfamiliar in pediatric surgery in Lebanon, this approach has proven particularly effective in ensuring a strong and lasting closure of the diaphragm.

This advancement highlights Hôtel-Dieu de France’s commitment to providing cutting-edge surgical care to its patients
