Hypertension is the most common cardiovascular risk factor worldwide. This condition affects more than one billion people globally and is responsible for approximately 10 million deaths each year.

Uncontrolled hypertension leads to cardiovascular and renal complications that are often fatal, disabling, and costly. It is responsible for about 9.4 million deaths annually, including 45% due to cardiac complications and 51% due to stroke.

In Lebanon, the prevalence of hypertension is estimated at 45.1%, while only 13.6% of patients achieve adequate blood pressure control. Therefore, the management of hypertension represents a major national public health priority.
